Navy Officer Nominations Dated May 2011

Chief of Naval Operations Adm. Gary Roughead announced today the following assignments:

Rear Adm. (lower half) Paul B. Becker will be assigned as director for intelligence, J2, U.S. Pacific Command, Camp H.M. Smith, Hawaii. Becker is currently serving as vice director for intelligence, J2, Joint Staff, Washington, D.C.

Rear Adm. (lower half) David G. Simpson, who has been selected for promotion to rear admiral, will be assigned as vice director, Defense Information System Agency, Washington, D.C. Simpson is currently serving as corporate director, N2/N6C, Office of the Chief of Naval Operations, Washington, D.C.

Secretary of the Navy Ray Mabus and Chief of Naval Operations Adm. Gary Roughead announced today the following assignments:

Rear Adm. (lower half) Barry L. Bruner, who has been selected for promotion to rear admiral, will be assigned as director, Submarine Warfare Division, N87, Office of the Chief of Naval Operations, Washington, D.C. Bruner is currently serving as commander, Submarine Group Ten, Kings Bay, Ga.

Rear Adm. Michael J. Connor will be assigned as director, Naval Warfare Integration Group, N00X, Office of the Chief of Naval Operations, Washington, D.C. Connor is currently serving as director, Submarine Warfare Division, N87, Office of the Chief of Naval Operations, Washington, D.C.

Rear Adm. (lower half) Richard B. Landolt, who has been selected for promotion to rear admiral, will be assigned as director for international engagement, N52, Office of the Chief of Naval Operations, Washington, D.C. Landolt is currently serving as special assistant to the director, Surface Warfare Division, N86, Office of the Chief of Naval Operations, Washington, D.C.

Rear Adm. (lower half) Timothy S. Matthews will be assigned as director, Fleet Readiness Division, N43, Office of the Chief of Naval Operations, Washington, D.C. Matthews is currently serving as commander, Fleet Readiness Centers, Patuxent River, Md.

Rear Adm. (lower half) Thomas J. Moore, Jr. will be assigned as program executive officer for aircraft carriers, Washington, D.C. Moore is currently serving as director, Fleet Readiness Division, N43, Office of the Chief of Naval Operations, Washington, D.C.

Rear Adm. (lower half) James A. Murdoch will be assigned as program executive officer for littoral combat ships, Washington, D.C. Murdoch is currently serving as fleet maintenance officer, U.S. Fleet Forces Command, Norfolk, Va.

Rear Admiral (lower half) David F. Baucom will be assigned as commander, Defense Logistics Agency troop support, Philadelphia, Pa. Baucom is currently serving as deputy assistant secretary of the Navy (acquisition and logistics management), Office of the Assistant Secretary of the Navy (Acquisition and Logistics Management), Washington, D.C.

Rear Admiral (lower half) Bradley R. Gehrke, who has been selected for promotion to rear admiral, will be assigned as director for operations, Defense Intelligence Agency, Washington, D.C. Gehrke is currently serving as defense attachZè China, Beijing, China.

Rear Admiral (lower half) Margaret D. Klein, who has been selected for promotion to rear admiral, will be assigned as chief of staff, U.S. Cyber Command, Ft. Meade, Md. Klein is currently serving as commander, Expeditionary Strike Group Five/commander, Task Force 51/518, Manama, Bahrain.

Rear Admiral Thomas P. Meek will be assigned as military executive, National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency, Bethesda, Md. Meek is currently serving as commander, Navy Cyber Forces Command, Virginia Beach, Va.

Rear Admiral (lower half) Robert L. Thomas Jr., who has been selected for promotion to rear admiral, will be assigned as vice director for operations, J3, Joint Staff, Washington, D.C. Thomas is currently serving as commander, Submarine Group Seven/commander, Task Force Seven Four/commander, Task Force Five Four, Yokosuka, Japan.

Rear Admiral (lower half) Elizabeth L. Train will be assigned as director for intelligence, J2, Joint Staff, Washington, D.C. Train is currently serving as director for intelligence, J2, U.S. Pacific Command, Camp H.M. Smith, Hawaii.

Secretary of Defense Robert M. Gates announced today that the President has made the following nominations:

Navy Captain Annie B. Andrews has been nominated for appointment to the rank of rear admiral (lower half). Andrews is currently serving as strategic studies group fellow, Chief of Naval Operations Strategic Studies Group, Newport, R.I.

Navy Captain Richard W. Butler has been nominated for appointment to the rank of rear admiral (lower half). Butler is currently serving as chief of staff, Naval Air Forces/Naval Air Force, U.S. Pacific Fleet, San Diego, Calif.

Navy Captain Matthew J. Carter has been nominated for appointment to the rank of rear admiral (lower half). Carter is currently serving as executive assistant to the commander, U.S. Transportation Command, Scott Air Force Base, Ill.

Navy Captain Lawrence E. Creevy has been nominated for appointment to the rank of rear admiral (lower half). Creevy is currently serving as the executive assistant to the commander, Naval Sea Systems Command, Washington, D.C.

Navy Captain Mark W. Darrah has been nominated for appointment to the rank of rear admiral (lower half). Darrah is currently serving as major project manager for F/A 18 and EA-18G programs, Program Executive Office for Tactical Aircraft, Patuxent River, Md.

Navy Captain Christopher W. Grady has been nominated for appointment to the rank of rear admiral (lower half). Grady is currently serving as executive assistant to the chief of naval operations, Washington, D.C.

Navy Captain Robert V. Hoppa has been nominated for appointment to the rank of rear admiral (lower half). Hoppa is currently serving as deputy chief of staff for intelligence, N2/N39, U.S. Fleet Forces Command, Norfolk, Va.

Navy Captain Michael E. Jabaley Jr. has been nominated for appointment to the rank of rear admiral (lower half). Jabaley is currently serving as major program manager for Virginia class programs, Program Executive Office for Submarines, Washington, D.C.

Navy Captain Cindy L. Jaynes has been nominated for appointment to the rank of rear admiral (lower half). Jaynes is currently serving as major program manager for Naval Air Traffic Management Systems Programs, PMA 213, Program Executive Office for Tactical Aircraft Programs, Lexington Park, Md.

Navy Captain Colin J. Kilrain has been nominated for appointment to the rank of rear admiral (lower half). Kilrain is currently serving as the director, combating terrorism, National Security Council, Washington, D.C.

Navy Captain David M. Kriete has been nominated for appointment to the rank of rear admiral (lower half). Kriete is currently serving as chief of staff, U.S. Strategic Command Special Activities Atlantic, Norfolk, Va.

Navy Captain Victorino G. Mercado has been nominated for appointment to the rank of rear admiral (lower half). Mercado is currently serving as military assistant to the deputy secretary of defense, Washington, D.C.

Navy Captain DeWolfe H. Miller has been nominated for appointment to the rank of rear admiral (lower half). Miller is currently serving as special assistant to the commander, Naval Air Forces, U.S. Atlantic Fleet, Norfolk, Va.

Navy Captain Stuart B. Munsch has been nominated for appointment to the rank of rear admiral (lower half). Munsch is currently serving as branch head, Strategy and Policy Division, N513, Office of the Chief of Naval Operations, Washington, D.C.

Navy Captain Kenneth M. Perry has been nominated for appointment to the rank of rear admiral (lower half). Perry is currently serving as executive assistant to the Supreme Allied Commander, Europe, Vaihingen, Germany.

Navy Captain Fernandez L. Ponds has been nominated for appointment to the rank of rear admiral (lower half). Ponds is currently serving as deputy director, Navy Special Projects, N3/N5NSP, Office of the Chief of Naval Operations, Washington, D.C.

Navy Captain John C. Scorby Jr. has been nominated for appointment to the rank of rear admiral (lower half). Scorby is currently serving as the executive assistant to the assistant secretary of the Navy for installations and environment, Washington, D.C.

Navy Captain Dwight D. Shepherd has been nominated for appointment to the rank of rear admiral (lower half). Shepherd is currently serving as senior military assistant to the secretary of the Navy, Washington, D.C.

Navy Captain Michael E. Smith has been nominated for appointment to the rank of rear admiral (lower half). Smith is currently serving as executive assistant to the commander, U.S. Pacific Command, Camp H. M. Smith, Hawaii.
