USAF General Officer Assignments: June 2011

The chief of staff, Air Force announced today the following assignments:

            Maj. Gen. Bruce A. Litchfield, special assistant to the commander, Air Force Materiel Command, located at Tinker Air Force Base, Okla., to commander, Oklahoma City Air Logistics Center, Air Force Materiel Command, Tinker Air Force Base, Okla.

            Maj. Gen. Walter D. Givhan, commandant, Air Force Institute of Technology, Air Education and Training Command, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio, to deputy assistant secretary for plans, programs and operations, U.S. Department of State, Washington, D.C.

            Maj. Gen. Mary Kay Hertog, commander, 2nd Air Force, Air Education and Training Command, Keesler Air Force Base, Miss., to director, Sexual Assault Prevention and Response Office, Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Personnel and Readiness, Washington, D.C.

            Brig. Gen. Leonard A. Patrick, commander, 502nd Air Base Wing, Air Education and Training Command, Fort Sam Houston, Texas, to commander, 2nd Air Force, Air Education and Training Command, Keesler Air Force Base, Miss.

            Brig. Gen. Theresa C. Carter, director of installations and mission support, Headquarters Air Mobility Command, Scott Air Force Base, Ill., to commander, 502nd Air Base Wing, Air Education and Training Command, Fort Sam Houston, Texas.

            Brig. Gen. Timothy S. Green, special assistant to the commander, U.S. European Command and Supreme Allied Commander Europe, Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe, Casteau, Belgium to director of installations and mission support, Headquarters Air Mobility Command, Scott Air Force Base, Ill.

            Brig. Gen. Richard A. Klumpp Jr., inspector general, Headquarters Air Mobility Command, Scott Air Force Base, Ill., to director, U.S. Forces – Afghanistan Liaison to the U.S. Embassy, Kabul, Afghanistan.

            Brig. Gen. Steven J. Arquiette, deputy director of operations, Operations Team Two, National Military Command Center, Joint Staff, Pentagon, Washington, D.C., to inspector general, Headquarters Air Mobility Command, Scott Air Force Base, Ill.

            Brig. Gen. Christopher J. Bence, deputy director, Operations and Plans Directorate, Headquarters U.S. Transportation Command, Scott Air Force Base, Ill., to deputy director of operations, Operations Team Two, National Military Command Center, Joint Staff, Pentagon, Washington, D.C.

 

Secretary of Defense Robert M. Gates announced today that the President has made the following nominations:

            Air Force Lt. Gen. Paul J. Selva has been nominated for reappointment to the rank of lieutenant general and for assignment as vice commander, Pacific Air Forces, Hickam Air Force Base, Hawaii.  Selva is currently serving as assistant to the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff,Pentagon, Washington, D.C.

            Air Force Maj. Gen. Stanley E. Clarke III, has been nominated for appointment to the rank of lieutenant general and for assignment as commander, First Air Force (Air Force North) and commander, Continental U.S. North American Aerospace Defense Command Region, Tyndall Air Force Base, Fla.  Clarke is currently serving as the senior defense official and defense attaché, Office of Defense Cooperation Turkey, U.S. European Command, Ankara, Turkey.

The chief of staff, Air Force announced today the following assignments:

            Maj. Gen. H. D. Polumbo Jr., director, strategy, plans and programs, Headquarters U.S. Africa Command, Stuttgart, Germany, to chief of staff, Headquarters U.S. Africa Command, Stuttgart, Germany.

            Maj. Gen. Robert P. Otto, director, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance capabilities, deputy chief of staff for intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance, Headquarters U.S. Air Force, Pentagon, Washington, D.C., to commander, Air Force Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance Agency, Lackland Air Force Base, Texas.

            Col. John P. Horner, who has been selected for the rank of brigadier general, commander, 93rd Air Ground Operations Wing, Air Combat Command, Moody Air Force Base, Ga., to director, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance capabilities, deputy chief of staff for intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance, Headquarters U.S. Air Force, Pentagon, Washington, D.C.

Heithold has been nominated for appointment to the rank of lieutenant general and for assignment as vice commander, U.S. Special Operations Command, Pentagon, Washington, D.C.  Heithold is currently serving as commander, Air Force Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance Agency/deputy chief of staff, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance, Headquarters U.S. Air Force, Lackland Air Force Base, Texas.

                 Air Force Col. Giovanni K. Tuck has been nominated for appointment to the rank of brigadier general.  Tuck is currently serving as the senior executive officer to the vice chief of staff, Headquarters U.S. Air Force, Pentagon, Washington, D.C.
