USAF General Officer Assignments: July 2010

The chief of staff, Air Force announces today the following assignments.

Brig. Gen. Joseph D. Brown IV, who has been selected for the rank of major general, deputy director, nuclear operations, Headquarters U.S. Strategic Command, Offutt Air Force Base, Neb., to commandant, Industrial College of the Armed Forces, National Defense University, Ft. McNair, Washington. D.C.

Brig. Gen. Robert E. Wheeler, commander, 509th Bomb Wing, Air Force Global Strike Command, Whiteman Air Force Base, Mo., to deputy director, nuclear operations, Headquarters U.S. Strategic Command, Offutt Air Force Base, Neb.

Col. Scott A. Vander Hamm, who has been selected for the rank of brigadier general, assistant deputy director, global operations, J-39, Joint Staff, Pentagon, Washington D.C., to commander, 509th Bomb Wing, Air Force Global Strike Command, Whiteman Air Force Base, Mo.

The chief of staff, Air Force announced today the following assignments:

Maj. Gen. David J. Eichhorn, commander, Air Force Flight Test Center, Air Force Materiel Command, Edwards Air Force Base, Calif., to commander, Air Force Operational Test and Evaluation Center, Kirtland Air Force Base, N.M.

Brig. Gen. Robert C. Nolan II, director, Standing Joint Force Headquarters, U.S. Northern Command, Peterson Air Force Base, Colo., to commander, Air Force Flight Test Center, Air Force Materiel Command, Edwards Air Force Base, Calif.

Col. Kenneth E. Todorov, who has been selected for the rank of brigadier general, executive assistant to the commander, U.S. Northern Command, Peterson Air Force Base, Colo., to director, Standing Joint Force Headquarters, U.S. Northern Command, Peterson Air Force Base, Colo.

Brig. Gen. Frederick H. Martin, deputy director for logistics, Headquarters U.S. Africa Command, Stuttgart, Germany, to special assistant to the commander, Headquarters Air Mobility Command, Scott Air Force Base, Ill.

Maj. Gen. Michael A. Snodgrass, chief of staff, Headquarters U.S. Africa Command, Stuttgart, Germany, to assistant deputy under secretary of the Air Force, international affairs, Office of the Under Secretary of the Air Force, Washington, D.C.

Maj. Gen. Robert H. McMahon, director, logistics, deputy chief of staff, logistics, installations and mission support, Headquarters U.S. Air Force, Pentagon, Washington, D.C., to commander, Warner Robins Air Logistics Center, Headquarters Air Force Materiel Command, Robins Air Force Base, Ga.

Maj. Gen. Judith A. Fedder, director, logistics, Headquarters Air Combat Command, Langley Air Force Base, Va., to director, logistics, deputy chief of staff, logistics, installations and mission support, Headquarters U.S. Air Force, Pentagon, Washington, D.C.

Brig. Gen. Mark A. Atkinson, director, logistics, installations and mission support, Headquarters U.S. Air Forces in Europe, Ramstein Air Base, Germany, to director, logistics, Headquarters Air Combat Command, Langley Air Force Base, Va.

Col. Balan R. Ayyar, who has been selected for the rank of brigadier general, military assistant to the Secretary of Defense, Office of the Secretary of Defense, Pentagon, Washington, D.C., to commander, Air Force Recruiting Service, Headquarters Air Education and Training Command, Randolph Air Force Base, Texas.

Brig. Gen. Michael J. Carey, deputy commander, space support and integration, J3A, Headquarters U.S. Strategic Command, Offutt Air Force Base, Neb., to deputy director, command and control and nuclear operations, J3, Joint Staff, Washington, D.C.

Secretary of Defense Robert M. Gates announced today that the President has made the following nomination:

Air Force Maj. Gen. Michael R. Moeller has been nominated for appointment to the rank of lieutenant general with assignment as U.S. security coordinator, Israel-Palestinian Authority. Moeller is currently serving as director, strategy, plans and policy, J-5, Headquarters, U.S. Central Command, MacDill Air Force Base, Fla.

Air Force Maj. Gen. Douglas H. Owens has been nominated for appointment to the rank of lieutenant general with assignment as vice commander, Air Education and Training Command, Randolph Air Force Base, Texas. Owens is currently serving as the vice commander, Pacific Air Forces, Hickam Air Force Base, Hawaii.
