The chief of staff, Air Force announced today the following assignments:

Maj. Gen. Joseph Reynes Jr., director, Air Component Coordination Element, U.S. Forces-Iraq, and commander, Detachment 2, 9th Air Expeditionary Task Force, Air Combat Command, Baghdad, Iraq, to director, joint experimentation, J-9, Headquarters U.S. Joint Forces Command, Norfolk, Va.

Brig. Gen. Russell J. Handy, commander, 57th Wing, Air Combat Command, Nellis Air Force Base, Nev., to director, Air Component Coordination Element, U.S. Forces-Iraq, and commander, Detachment 2, 9th Air Expeditionary Task Force, Air Combat Command, Baghdad, Iraq.

Brig. Gen. Terrence J. O'Shaughnessy, vice commander, 13th Air Force, Pacific Air Forces, Hickam Air Force Base, Hawaii, to commander, 57th Wing, Air Combat Command, Nellis Air Force Base, Nev.

Brig. Gen. Paul T. Johnson, commander, 355th Fighter Wing, Air Combat Command, Davis-Monthan Air Force Base, Ariz., to commander, 451st Air Expeditionary Wing, Air Combat Command, Kandahar Airfield, Afghanistan.

Brig. Gen. John F. Thompson, program executive officer, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance, and commander, 303rd Aeronautical Systems Wing, Aeronautical Systems Center, Air Force Materiel Command, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio, to program executive officer, strategic systems, Air Force Nuclear Weapons Center, Air Force Materiel Command, Kirtland Air Force Base, N.M.

The chief of staff, Air Force announced today the following assignments:

Air Force Brig. Gen. Byron C. Hepburn has been nominated to the rank of major general while serving as the deputy surgeon general, Headquarters U.S. Air Force, Bolling Air Force Base, Washington, D.C.

Air Force Col. Gerard A. Caron has been nominated to the rank of major general with assignment as assistant surgeon general for dental services, Office of the Surgeon General, Headquarters U.S. Air Force, Andrews Air Force Base, Washington, D.C., and commander, 79th Medical Wing, Air Force District Washington, Andrews Air Force Base, Md. Caron is currently serving as deputy command surgeon, Headquarters Air Education and Training Command, Randolph Air Force Base, Texas.

Maj. Gen. Susan K. Mashiko, director, space acquisition, Office of the Under Secretary of the Air Force, Pentagon, Washington, D.C., to deputy director, National Reconnaissance Office, and commander, Air Force Space Command Element, National Reconnaissance Office, Chantilly, Va.

Brig. Gen. John E. Hyten, director, cyber and space operations, Directorate of Operations, deputy chief of staff for operations, plans and requirements, Headquarters U.S. Air Force, Pentagon, Washington, D.C., to director, space acquisition, Office of the Under Secretary of the Air Force, Pentagon, Washington, D.C.

Brig. Gen. Edward L. Bolton Jr., commander, 45th Space Wing, and director eastern range, U.S. Air Force Space Command, Patrick Air Force Base, Fla., to director, cyber and space operations, Directorate of Operations, deputy chief of staff for operations, plans and requirements, Headquarters U.S. Air Force, Pentagon, Washington, D.C.

Brig. Gen. Thomas J. Masiello, deputy director, strategic effects, Multi-National Force-Iraq, U.S. Central Command, Baghdad, Iraq, to deputy assistant secretary for plans, programs and operations, Bureau of Political-Military Affairs, U.S. Department of State, Washington, D.C.

Brig. Gen. Craig S. Olson, chief, Office of Security Cooperation, Multi-National Security Transition Command-Iraq, U.S. Central Command, Baghdad, Iraq, to program executive officer, Enterprise Information Systems, Electronic Systems Center, Air Force Materiel Command, Maxwell-Gunter Air Force Base, Ala.

Col. Daniel B. Fincher, who has been selected to the rank of brigadier general, is being assigned as commander, Air Force Legal Operations Agency, Bolling Air Force Base, Washington, D.C. Fincher is currently serving as director of staff, judge advocate general, Headquarters U.S. Air Force, Pentagon, Washington, D.C.

Col. David C. Wesley, who has been selected to the rank of brigadier general, is being assigned as staff judge advocate, Headquarters Air Mobility Command, Scott Air Force Base, Ill. Wesley is currently serving as staff judge advocate, Headquarters Air Education and Training Command, Randolph Air Force Base, Texas

Secretary of Defense Robert M. Gates announced today that the President has made the following nominations:

Air Force Col. Gary C. Blaszkiewicz has been nominated to the grade of brigadier general while serving as associate director, logistics, Deputy Chief of Staff for Logistics, Installations and Mission Support, Headquarters U.S. Air Force, Washington, D.C.

Air Force Col. Paul S. Dwan has been nominated to the grade of brigadier general while serving as mobilization assistant to the command surgeon, Headquarters Air Combat Command, Langley Air Force Base, Va.

Air Force Col. Daniel B. Fincher has been nominated to the grade of brigadier general while serving as director of staff, office of the judge advocate general, Headquarters U.S. Air Force, Pentagon, Washington, D.C.

Air Force Col. Arthur C. Haubold has been nominated to the grade of brigadier general while serving as mobilization assistant to the Air Force director of public affairs, Office of the Secretary of the Air Force, Pentagon, Washington, D.C.

Air Force Col. Michael D. Kim has been nominated to the grade of brigadier general while serving as the mobilization assistant to the commander, 17th Air Force and U.S. Air Forces Africa, Ramstein Air Base, Germany.

Air Force Col. Linda S. Marchione has been nominated to the grade of brigadier general while serving as mobilization assistant to the director of global operations, U.S. Strategic Command, Offutt Air Force Base, Neb.

Air Force Col. Richard O. Middleton II has been nominated to the grade of brigadier general while serving as mobilization assistant to the director of logistics, Headquarters Air Mobility Command, Scott Air Force Base, Ill.

Air Force Col. Dixie A. Morrow has been nominated to the grade of brigadier general while serving as mobilization assistant to the staff judge advocate, Headquarters Air Combat Command, Langley Air Force Base, Va.

Air Force Col. Robert N. Polumbo has been nominated to the grade of brigadier general while serving as mobilization assistant to the commander, U.S. Air Force Warfare Center, Nellis Air Force Base, Nev.

Air Force Col. Jane C. Rohr has been nominated to the grade of brigadier general while serving as mobilization assistant to the commander, Space and Missile Systems Center, Air Force Space Command, Los Angeles Air Force Base, Calif.

Air Force Col. Patricia A. Rose has been nominated to the grade of brigadier general while serving as mobilization assistant to the director for logistics, engineering and security assistance, U.S. Pacific Command, Camp Smith, Hawaii.

Air Force Col. Peter Sefcik Jr. has been nominated to the grade of brigadier general while serving as mobilization assistant to the commander, Air Force Research Laboratory, Wright Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio.

Air Force Col. James F. Smith has been nominated to the grade of brigadier general while serving as mobilization assistant to the director, strategic plans, programs and analyses, Headquarters Air Force Materiel Command, Wright Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio.

Air Force Col. Edmund D. Walker has been nominated to the grade of brigadier general while serving as commander, 917th Wing, Air Force Reserve Command, Barksdale Air Force Base, La.
