Army General Officer Nominations dtd August 2011

The chief of staff, Army announced the following officer assignments:

             Maj. Gen. Joseph Anderson, director of operations, readiness and mobilization, Office of the Deputy Chief of Staff, G-3/5/7, U.S. Army, Washington, D.C., to commanding general, 4th Infantry Division (Mechanized) and Fort Carson, Fort Carson, Colo.

             Maj. Gen. Mark A. Milley, deputy director for regional operations, J-3, The Joint Staff, Washington, D.C., to commanding general, 10th Mountain Division (Light) and Fort Drum, Fort Drum, N.Y.

            Brig. Gen. William B. Gamble, commanding general, Dwight David Eisenhower Army Medical Center/deputy commanding general, Southern Regional Medical Command Readiness, Fort Gordon, Ga., to deputy director, Tricare Management Activity, Office of the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Health Affairs, Falls Church, Va.

            Army Reserve Brig. Gen. Karen E. Ledoux, commander, 94th Training Division (Force Sustainment), Fort Lee, Va., to commanding general, Army Materiel Command-Southwest Asia/G-4, U.S. Army Central, Kuwait.

            Brig. Gen. Darsie D. Rogers Jr., commander, Joint Forces Special Operations Component Command - Iraq, U.S. Forces-Iraq, Operation New Dawn, Iraq, to deputy commanding general, 4th Infantry Division (Mechanized), Fort Carson, Colo.

            Brig. Gen. Thomas S. Vandal, commandant, U.S. Army Field Artillery School, U.S. Army Fires Center of Excellence, Fort Sill, Okla., to director of operations, readiness and mobilization, Office of the Deputy Chief of Staff, G-3/5/7, U.S. Army, Washington, D.C.

            Army Reserve Brig. Gen. Ricky L. Waddell, assistant chief of staff, J-4 (individual mobilization augmentee), U.N. Command/Combined Forces Command/U.S. Forces Korea, to commander, Combined Joint Interagency Task Force - Shafafiyat, International Security Assistance Force, Operation Enduring Freedom, Afghanistan.

Secretary of Defense Leon E. Panetta announced today that the President has made the following nomination:

             Army Maj. Gen. James L. Terry, for appointment to the rank of lieutenant general and for assignment as commanding general, V Corps, U.S. Army Europe and Seventh Army.  Terry is currently serving as the commanding general, 10th Mountain Division (Light), Fort Drum, N.Y.

             Army Reserve Brig. Gen. Margaret W. Boor, for appointment to the rank of major general and for assignment as deputy director for logistics operations, J-4, The Joint Staff, Washington, D.C.  Boor is currently serving as the chief of staff, Defense Logistics Agency, Operation Enduring Freedom, Afghanistan.

The following Army General Officer nominations were confirmed by the Senate on 2 August 2011:

General Martin E. Dempsey, United States Army, for reappointment to the rank of general and assignment as Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Washington, DC.  He is currently serving as Chief of Staff, United States Army, Washington, DC.

General Raymond T. Odierno, United States Army, for reappointment to the rank of general and assignment as Chief of Staff, United States Army, Washington, DC.  He is currently serving as Commander, United States Joint Forces Command, Norfolk, Virginia.

Lieutenant General Charles H. Jacoby, Jr., United States Army, for appointment to the rank of general and assignment as Commander, United States Northern Command/ Commander, North American Aerospace Defense Command, Peterson Air Force Base, Colorado.  He is currently serving as Director, Strategic Plans and Policy, J-5; Senior Member, United States Delegation to the United Nations Military Staff Committee, Washington, DC.

Lieutenant General Robert L. Caslen, Jr., United States Army, for reappointment to the rank of lieutenant general and assignment as Chief, Office of Security Cooperation - Iraq, OPERATION NEW DAWN, Iraq. He is currently serving as Commanding General, United States Army Combined Arms Center and Fort Leavenworth, Fort Leavenworth, Kansas.

Lieutenant General Michael Ferriter, United States Army, for reappointment to the rank of lieutenant general and assignment as Assistant Chief of Staff for Installation Management/Commanding General, Installation Management Command, United States Army, Washington, DC.  He is currently serving as Deputy Commander for Advising and Training, United States Forces-Iraq, OPERATION NEW DAWN, Iraq.

Major General Charles T. Cleveland, United States Army, for appointment to the rank of lieutenant general and assignment as Commanding General, United States Army Special Operations Command, Fort Bragg, North Carolina.  He is currently serving as Commander, Special Operations Command Central, United States Central Command, MacDill Air Force Base, Florida.

Major General David G. Perkins, United States Army, for appointment to the rank of lieutenant general and assignment as Commanding General, United States Army Combined Arms Center and Fort Leavenworth, Fort Leavenworth, Kansas.  He is currently serving as Commanding General, 4th Infantry Division (Mechanized)/Commanding General, United States Division - North, OPERATION NEW DAWN, Iraq.

Major General Keith C. Walker, United States Army, for appointment to the rank of lieutenant general and assignment as Deputy Commanding General, Futures/Director, Army Capabilities Integration Center, United States Army Training and Doctrine Command, Fort Monroe, Virginia.  He is currently serving as Commanding General, Brigade Modernization Command, Army Capabilities Integration Center, United States Army Training and Doctrine Command, Fort Bliss, Texas.

Brigadier General Bert K. Mizusawa, United States Army Reserve, for promotion to the rank of major general.  He is currently serving as Deputy Director for Strategic Initiatives, J-5, The Joint Staff, Washington, DC.

Colonel Kaffia Jones, United States Army Reserve, for promotion to the rank of brigadier general.  She is currently serving as Commanding General, 505th Signal Brigade, Las Vegas, Nevada.
