Army General Officer Nominations dtd 31 June 2009

The following Army General Officer nominations were confirmed by the Senate on 31 July 2009:

Lieutenant General Lloyd J. Austin III, United States Army, for reappointment to the rank of lieutenant general and assignment as Director, Joint Staff, Washington, DC. He is currently serving as the Commanding General, XVIII Airborne Corps and Fort Bragg, Fort Bragg, North Carolina.

Lieutenant General Kenneth W. Hunzeker, United States Army, for reappointment to the rank of lieutenant general and assignment as Deputy Commander, Multi-National Force-Iraq, OPERATION IRAQI FREEDOM, Iraq. He is currently serving as the Commanding General, V Corps, Germany.

Lieutenant General Ricky Lynch, United States Army, for reappointment to the rank of lieutenant general and assignment as Assistant Chief of Staff for Installation Management/Commanding General, Installation Management Command, United States Army, Washington, DC. He is currently serving as Commanding General, III Corps and Fort Hood, Fort Hood, Texas.

Major General Michael D. Barbero, United States Army, for appointment to the rank of lieutenant general and assignment as Commander, Multi-National Security Transition Command-Iraq and Commander, NATO Training Mission-Iraq, United States Central Command. He recently served as Commanding General, United States Army Infantry Center and Fort Benning/Commandant, United States Army Infantry School, Fort Benning, Georgia.

Major General Purl K. Keen, United States Army, for appointment to the rank of lieutenant general and assignment as Military Deputy to the Commander, United States Southern Command, Doral, Florida. He is currently serving as Chief of Staff, United States European Command, Germany.

Major General Robert P. Lennox, United States Army, for appointment to the rank of lieutenant general and assignment as Deputy Chief of Staff, G-8, United States Army, Washington, DC. He is currently serving as Director, Quadrennial Defense Review, G-8, United States Army, Washington, DC.

Major General John E. Sterling, Jr., United States Army, for appointment to the rank of lieutenant general and assignment as Deputy Commanding General/Chief of Staff, United States Army Training and Doctrine Command, Fort Monroe, Virginia. He is currently serving as Assistant Chief of Staff, C-3/J-3, United Nations Command/Combined Forces Command/United States Forces Korea/Deputy Commanding General, Eighth United States Army, Korea.

Brigadier General Dana K. Chipman, United States Army, for appointment to the rank of lieutenant general and assignment as The Judge Advocate General, United States Army, Washington, DC. He is currently serving as Commander/Commandant, United States Army Judge Advocate General's Legal Center and School, Charlottesville, Virginia.

Brigadier General Clyde J. Tate II, United States Army, for promotion to the grade of major general and assignment as the Deputy Judge Advocate General, Arlington, Virginia. He is currently serving as the Commander, United States Army Legal Services Agency and Chief Judge, United States Army Court of Criminal Appeals, Arlington, Virginia.

Colonel Thomas E. Ayres, United States Army, for promotion to the rank of brigadier general. He will be assigned as Assistant Judge Advocate General for Military Law and Operations, United States Army, Rosslyn, Virginia.

Colonel Mark S. Martins, United States Army, for promotion to the rank of brigadier general. He will be assigned as Commander, United States Army Legal Services Agency/Chief Judge, United States Army Court of Criminal Appeals, Arlington, Virginia.

Colonel Charlotte L. Miller, United States Army National Guard, for promotion to the grade of brigadier general. She is currently serving as Assistant Adjutant General, California Army National Guard, Sacramento, California.

Colonel John W. Miller II, United States Army, for promotion to the rank of brigadier general. He will be assigned as Commander/Commandant, United States Army Judge Advocate General's Legal Center and School, Charlottesville, Virginia.

Colonel Daniel L. York, United States Army Reserve, for promotion to the grade of brigadier general. He is currently serving as Commander, 104th Division (Institutional Training), Vancouver, Washington.
